COMPANION STORY: SUMMIT
For the most festive time of the Earth year, Ethan brings Liam home to Colorado to spend the holidays with the Rykers. It’s a chance to relax, soak up Christmas cheer, and include Liam in family tradition among the snow-capped peaks of Breckenridge. When real-world demands intrude, though, their perfect vacation isn’t the only thing on the line as the past threatens to derail their future.
Ethan hasn’t been home for the holidays since before graduation. In fact, he hasn’t spent Christmas anywhere but trapped inside a star cruiser since he received his first assignment. But this year is different. This year, he has someone new to share his traditions with. He has someone to impress. He wants everything to be perfect but reality keeps interrupting his plans, and his anxious mind can’t help spinning worry into disaster. Ethan just wants a nice, quiet holiday. But peace and quiet aren’t concepts he’s very familiar with.
Liam’s never celebrated Christmas before–or any holiday, for that matter. He’s excited to visit Colorado, see real snow, and finally meet Ethan’s parents. The historical and factual information in his memory banks will have real experience to accompany it at last and Liam can’t wait to do and see it all. Amidst all the tree trimming, treat indulging, and playing in the snow, though, uncertainty is brewing over what will happen for them in the new year, and Liam will have to face some truths he might not be ready for.
They’re ready for the next step, ready to build a bright future, but neither Ethan nor Liam can escape opposing forces alone. The two will need to galvanize their partnership to banish the demons of the past and plot a new course through uncharted territory. Rising above adversity, they’ll become unstoppable together. With the strength of their love, they might even change the course of history.
PLEASE NOTE: This story falls in the series timeline between books two and three, Eltanin and Nashira. It may be read as a standalone story, but does contain spoilers for Eltanin. For those who wish to not have any main book plot points spoiled, it is recommended to read Asteria and Eltanin before Summit.
Contains: moderate profanity; explicit m/m sex; coping with anxiety; mentions of depression and suicide
